How to apply for a Philippines e-Visa yourself
The whole application happens online on the official evisa.gov.ph portal. Here are the stages, real timelines and where applications most often get returned.
Step 1. Portal account
Register on evisa.gov.ph with your own email — the invoice, embassy requests and the visa itself go there. You may apply on behalf of family members only.
Step 2. The form: 9 sections
- Visa type — country of application, embassy, category 9(a), tourism, single or multiple entry.
- Trip — port of entry, dates, length of stay, addresses.
- Personal details — names, date and place of birth, addresses with proof, parents, passport (type ORDINARY!), second ID, employment.
- ICAO photo.
- Travel history.
- 14 security questions — refusals, convictions, previous visas, who pays for the trip, etc.
- Documents — at least one file per required item.
- E-signature.
- Review and submit.
Step 3. Pay the fee within 48 hours
After submitting you receive an invoice: $65 ($40 visa + $25 portal fee). Pay by bank transfer to the embassy's account within 48 hours and upload the payment proof. Processing time counts from payment.
Step 4. Review and statuses
Usually 3–12 working days for single entry (15–21 for multiple). If the embassy needs more, the application is marked Returned — you correct it and resubmit.
A real timeline
| Stage | Day |
|---|---|
| Form started | 1 |
| Submitted and paid | 2 |
| Payment confirmed, under review | 9 |
| Returned for corrections | 13 |
| Resubmitted | 17 |
| Approved | 20 |
Note that the embassy took a week to confirm the payment in this case — allow for that. Why it was returned: the wrong passport type, plus requests for a cover letter, itinerary, departure booking and proof of business. With those included upfront it would have been approved a week earlier. Plan your application at least a month ahead of the flight.
Step 5. Visa and departure
The approved e-Visa with a QR code arrives by email and in your account. Print it or keep it on your phone, and register for eTravel within 72 hours before arrival.
